Bowens Island Restaurant, Folly Beach SC

It's all true.
The large-scale, salt marsh view is spectacular. Dolphins frolicking. Sunset.
The fried shrimp are tasty, not over-battered, and not overcooked.
The sides? Nothing special. So-so freezer fries and crummy hushpuppies. Decent vinegary cole slaw.
You don't like fried? You can have boiled shrimp, corn, etc. in Frogmore stew or shrimp & grits, but that is it.
The surprise? Full liquor bar and tons of good beers on tap!
Finally tried Holy City Brewing Co's Notorious P. I. G. bacon porter. The verdict? Yum. Pictured: a nice, light kolsch by Coast Brewing. Also yum.

Fresh bread from Butcher & Bee Charleston

This loaf of ciabatta is the biggest I have ever witnessed. You could hide two or three kittens within it, if you had to. Big ones.

And it's yummy. Believe it.
